It's nice that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia features a new hybrid engine, but that remains the only choice. The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe's base engine is a 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. For 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, consider upgrading to the 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Alternatively, a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine also makes 460 lb-ft of torque and 277 horsepower. Overall, for those who want additional power and engine options, the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe is more appealing. Efficiency And Performance The 2023 Sequoia's city fuel economy is 21 mpg, with a highway fuel economy of up to 24 mpg. The Tahoe’s diesel engine is more economical, getting up to 28 mpg on the interstate and an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city. What's more, the standard 5.3-liter gasoline V-8 got the same combined fuel rating as the diesel. Even the remarkable 6.2-liter V-8 earns 16 city mpg and 18 highway mpg. The Tahoe's performance is enhanced by its independent suspension, which can be improved even further with optional magnetic ride control dampers. The 5.3L gasoline engine with 4WD averages 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway for a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. In comparison, the diesel engine with 2WD gets 21 mpg city/27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined fuel economy.
